I surprised my husband with tickets in his shoes the morning of our date. I wanted him to be excited throughout the day about the upcoming game and our date night! {These tickets are generic for any sporting event.} While the game was our entertainment for most of the night, I wanted to have something to do during half-time since we couldn’t watch the performances at the actual game. I decided to stop by the store to grab Oreos for the TASTIEST half-time contest ever, an Oreo Slam Dunk Contest!
One of my favorite things about going to an actual game is watching players dunk the ball. My husband and I did our own version of a “dunk.” We enjoyed dunking Oreo’s in milk – but I wanted to add a little challenge. We have different challenge cards you and your spouse can draw to see what type of dunk you are required to complete… or at least attempt.
I think this is my new favorite type of dunk! We also did a Half-Time Hoop-Shoot. Grab a trash can/laundry basket (or this basketball hoop laundry basket if you want to go all out) and a pair of socks that’s been balled up. Place your “hoop” in an open area of the room. Use your location labels (1 point, 2 points, 3 points) to select areas in the room from which you have to shoot.
You have three rounds to get as many points as possible. This can be accomplished a few ways. We liked to set a 1-minute timer and try to get as many points as we could {from any point location} during that 60 seconds. You could also use 1 point location for each round and see how many shots you can each get during a certain time limit. Sporting events don’t necessarily have a reputation for being super romantic… but they do have KISS CAM! I knew we needed to have a Kiss Cam too. {We suggest printing this out on cardstock to give it a little strength} Before the game started, I told my husband each time a player made a three-point shot, he had to give me a kiss! Even though we didn’t make the arena jumbotron, each kiss was just as good! Well, let me tell you… this date was easy, budget-friendly and fun.
